The game is getting quite expensive...

What's happening, Metuselahs?

Even though I buy boosters, I'm a regular ebayer, and we do suffer about how high people manage to pay for this cards.
And this is not a brainfuck coming from a Spanish Troll on teh Int3rnet. It has been commented in forums and several blogs, and it made me think a bit.

Par example:
- Mind Rape 19$
- Summon History ~20$ (the auctions I've seen..not yet ended!)
- Harmony 17$ (wtfzomg! do you really think this will make your choir deck a tier 1? Pwnd)
- Carlton Van Wyk (Hunter) 39$ (ok, do you like e-anal-sex?)
- Nergal Base Promo 39$
- Enkil Cog 39$
- Preternatural Strenght 29$

.... well, enough for my brain...

My gut feeling is that the price of the cards that have always been coveted, will maintain their price, and those new cards like Summon History will increase their cost on ebay....
I hope Harmony decreases someday its cost, because I have a dark desire with the Daughters :D

Try to save some cash, Metuselahs...

  1. Look at it the other around. Villein (even though only an uncommon) was quite expensive before HttB. Now I saw 2 Villein sold for $1.59 during the last on EBay.

Just wait for the reprints! Granted Harmony might not be reprinted any time soon, but I am sure Carlton, Enkil Cog, and some other cards will be reprinted anytime soon.

  2. Just because someone is asking $39 for Nergal does not mean you're disallowed to look a bit further and find Nergals for under $2 on several e-bay sites. Some people are daft and will buy what they're looking for on the first location they find it - I guess that's this seller's angle.

  3. Roko, link me a Nergal Base version for that amount of cash pls :)
And ofc this is a /rage to people that ask really high prices for cards and others also raise them, as well as the things I commented.

Wait, wait wait.... well for the Deflection reprint we waited so long and it finally came. Villein was a special case, imo.

  4. Yup, sorry, didn't even realize base version costs that much. However, after a 2 min search, I've found a shop that sells Nergal base version for $15, which is much less than $39...

I've also stumbled once on a site that had an ADV Nergal for $39.

Funny that those Nergals cost that much, around here it seems everyone who needs them has plenty of them. But promo cards have a way of having crazy high price tags.

  5. I think since KoT white wolf follows more or less a basic rule: if a card gets too expenive they will reprint it. Why else did they reprint Jake Washington and Unmasking in an expansion that didn't feature a single ally (maybe it did, but you get the point: no shambo, war ghoul, nephandus, etc.)?

  6. Are these the auction prices that you're seeing, or the Buy It Now prices? The latter are always going to seem high, because if they were reasonably priced, someone would have already bought the card and you wouldn't see it there.

  7. Most of them are Buy It Now prices, and the only one of those it is not a B.I.N price, is the Summon History one, the last point I recall of the auction, some hours before its end, Kushiel

  8. Right. So keep in mind that the actual prices of these cards aren't as high as they appear, then. What you're seeing is the stagnant, overpriced segment of the market.

  9. Ebay is very efficient matching consumers willingness to pay to inventory available. The secondary market for VtES is really small, the problem is scarcity .. more players need to crack more boosters.
